Replacing a bath with a shower in Fuerteventura
Replacing a bath with a shower is not simply exchanging one fixture. Drainage height, waterproofing, wall repairs and the screen all affect the result. If easier access is the aim, assess the complete route into the shower rather than looking only at the tray height.

Measure the usable opening
Check width, length, doorway movement and the space outside the shower. A low tray or tiled base may be possible, but available drainage levels decide whether a step can genuinely be removed. Where grab rails are needed, their position and backing must be planned before walls are finished.
- Clear entrance width
- Existing waste position
- Tap location
- Screen opening
- Safe supporting wall areas
Resolve the surfaces hidden by the bath
Removing the bath may expose unfinished walls, damaged plaster or different floor levels. Ask whether making good and matching tiles are included. The waterproofing must connect the shower base to adjoining walls and penetrations; a bead of visible sealant is not a substitute for a properly specified assembly.
Choose for cleaning and future access
Compare the screen’s usable opening, access to the waste and the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions. Keep replacement tile options in mind if the original finish is unavailable. Send an overall bath photo, floor and tap details, approximate measurements and any history of leaks before arranging a measured inspection.
