Choosing flooring for a home in Fuerteventura
The best floor depends on use and the existing base, not only the sample colour. Compare the complete installed system: preparation, finish, joints, skirting and transitions. A covering cannot correct an unstable substrate or an unresolved source of moisture.

Check levels and support first
Establish stability, flatness and moisture conditions with the installer. Laying over an existing floor may reduce removal, but changes finished height at doors, appliances and adjacent rooms. Measure those interfaces before choosing an overlay. Movement or hollow areas need assessment rather than simply covering them.
- Substrate condition
- Interior or exterior use
- Wet areas
- Door and appliance clearance
- Transitions between rooms
Compare materials against everyday use
Porcelain offers many wet-area options, but format and installation affect cost. Vinyl and laminate require suitable bases and products rated for their intended location; not every board suits bathrooms. Microcement needs careful preparation and a compatible finish. Ask about slip resistance where relevant rather than judging it by touch alone.
Think about repairs and cleaning
Check manufacturer instructions for cleaning and maintenance, and retain spare pieces or product references. Compare preparation and edging in quotations, not just a supply price per square metre. Send photos of the existing floor, thresholds and damaged areas. A sample confirms appearance; an on-site check confirms whether the proposed system is appropriate.
